Solving spinal, back and pelvic pain
If you’ve got spinal, back or pelvic pain when you sit, stand, move or twist, it’s time to come and see the team at Progressive Physiotherapy Group.
Your spine and pelvis are pretty clever things. As well as being the main frame that keeps you standing, those 26 little bones are also responsible for looking after your spinal cord and giving you the flexibility to move.
Kinda important right? So let’s keep them in top shape.
What do we treat?
We assess all type of back pain, from muscle spasm and strains to bulging discs and persistent pain. We’re trained to diagnose pain in every inch of your back and pelvis, from the top to the bottom.
What to expect during your appointment
It’s common to think your back pain is structural (the way your body is put together), but often it can be due to a muscular imbalance or the way you move. While that sounds dramatic it’s actually a good thing because it’s easier for us to fix a weakness or issue that relates to how you’re moving. We just need to teach you a few new tricks to get your body working to the best of its ability.
The thoracic spine
While it’s easy to focus on the top and bottom of your back, the middle of your back and rib cage (your thorax) are just as important. In fact, it makes up 30% of your body.
Thoracic pain can often be felt in other parts of your body, such as the shoulder, so it’s important we check your thorax to see if it’s the cause of any referred pain.
We’ll check your thorax if you’re experiencing symptoms such as pain when breathing in and out or discomfort in and around your ribs.
