Sports Injuries

From the weekend warrior to the serious athlete, we’ll get you through your injury and hitting your goal

Stop playing through that injury. Yes, we’re looking at you!

It’s very rare that we advise you to stop activity altogether so don’t let a fear of the sofa hold you back.

Getting you moving (without pain)

Some of our clients can’t remember the last time they played sport or exercised without pain. While we fully condone you keeping fit, we’re going to put our sensible physio hats on and say ‘please come and see us!”.

You already know it but we’ll say it anyway: continuing to play on an injury can do irreversible damage. There, we said it. Now it’s time to get it fixed.

Some of the sports injuries we treat include:

  • Muscle strains
  • Ligament sprains
  • Tendinopathies (tendon injuries)
  • Tennis elbow
  • Problems with the Achilles
What to expect

The first thing we’ll do is pop the kettle on, pull up a chair and have a good chat. We need to know everything that you’ve been up to; the sports you play, how long you’ve had your injury and what movements make you go ‘eek’ in pain.

Once we’ve established where and what your injury is, we’ll work with you to develop a rehabilitation program, which usually results in you being stronger than before.

We might recommend modifications to your activity so that you can maintain your fitness while not putting extra strain on your injury. We can meet you in a gym for a session and talk you through the best exercises to build your strength and which exercises to avoid.

We’ll load your rehabilitation program onto a phone app so you can remember everything we’ve said and we can check on your progress.

Classes

You might want to come along to our Rehabilitation Groups which offer a range of exercises to get you moving safely. You can read more about these on our Classes page.
